APAC Volleyball in Hanoi

Last week Sarah, Dina and the TCIS Girls' Volleyball Team spent four days in Hanoi, Vietnam participating in the Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC) Volleyball Tournament.  The event was held at the United Nations International School in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The weather was warm and the competition fierce.  The TCIS girls played well.  They won some games and they lost some too.  They ended up with a 5th place finish out of six teams.  It was a tough tournament.

Regardless, the tournament was fun, the location fascinating and the memories--forever.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sarah's Senior Day - Volleyball

Sarah recently played her last home volleyball game on the TCIS court. (and they beat SFS--it was great!)  The season has flown by and it has been a good one.  Now it is tournament time.  Sarah and Dina will be heading to Vietnam to participate in an APAC tournment this weeked and then at the end of the month they will be playing in the local KAIAC tournament.

At the end of the game on Saturday, TCIS honored the graduating seniors.  Sarah has played volleyball all four years of high school and it has been so fun to watch her compete and share the experience of a team sport with her friends--especially her buddy, Gentry.  We celebrate Sarah--she is a joy to all around her and she makes us proud.

Becca's Busyness

It is hard to keep up with Becca when she is 6000 miles away from us.  Thank goodness for Skype and Facebook.  It appears that she is keeping busy this  year at college.  She is singing in a couple of choirs, taking lots of classes and doing a field experience in an elementary classroom. 

She is also having some fun with her friends.  The TWIRP event was just held at the college and it involves dramatic invitations to the event, themed costumes at the event and a lot of fun.  From the pics and reports it seems that Becca is having a fun year.  I included some pics I borrowed from Facebook.

 

 

 

Art Class

Sarah is taking an art class this year.  It is a new experience for her and one that she is enjoying.  She is learning a lot.  The other day I saw some student art up on the walls in the school and I was surprised and happy to find that one of the pieces was Sarah's.  Right next to it were pictures by her friends, Gentry and Sharon.  They looked great.  Here they are:

Fine Arts and Fall

A few cold nights here and there and it is starting to look like and feel like Fall in Korea.  Last week our TCIS Fine Arts Department presented a Fall program out on the deck at the school.  It was a great outdoor band/orchestra/choir/drama presentation in the cool evening air.  They even served dinner--BBQ hamburgers!

It was a delightful night.  Sarah sang in the choir, David Miller led the band and orchestra and Heidi Zickefoose and students presented a short, hilarious and entertaining play about how to FAIL your college entrance interview.
