Sarah sightings...

This blogger has gotten a little behind, but life keeps happening.  Not only has Sarah been busy with basketball, but she has also been engaged in all kinds of activities.  A week or so ago she attended the MORP dance (prom backwards).  She had a full day that day and didn't have time for dinner, so Sarah and her friends got all fancied up and ate dinner on the way (literally, driving and walking) to the dance.

Sarah is a leader on the one of the school's music and worship teams for the Chapel services.  Every other week she helps to lead the student body in a time of singing and praise and worship.

On Friday night our friends Brenna and Landon had a baby!  Baby Eli entered the world and less than 24 hours later Sarah was holding him. He is a cute and precious little guy.  Sarah did a good job holding him...she says that she is "in love."  He is a cutie and he has a cute BSU Broncos hat too.

Sarah is seemingly everywhere, doing everything.  It is fun (trying) to keep up with her.

A Visit to DreamWorks

My colleague, Mark, and I met in San Francisco last week to attend a hiring fair.  We were looking for teachers to work in our school in South Korea.  We arrived at the fair a day early and I am glad that we did.  Mark had an old friend from high school that was living and working in San Francisco.  He works at DreamWorks and invited us to come by for a tour.  We took the bait, hailed a cab and embarked on an adventure.

DreamWorks is the company responsible for the movies:  Shrek, Madagascar (1, 2, & 3), Kungfu Panda and The Guardians to name a few.  We met up with Mark's friend, Rex Grignon, the chief animator at DreamWorks, and he gave us the first rate tour (with lunch included).

It was amazing to see where and how they make animated movies.  It is all so technical while at the same time so artistic and creative.  Rex is a great guy.  He spent a lot of time with us and answered all of our questions.  The time and talent that goes into making animated movies is amazing.  What a great memory!

KAIAC, Bball & Sarah

It is hard to believe that the basketball season is already over.  It was a challenging season for Sarah and the TCIS Dragons, but they rose to the challenge.  The season was filled with lots of close games and more often than not the Dragons were just a few points short of a victory.

The TCIS Girls finished the season with a league standing of fifth place.  However, their season culminated with a great showing at the league tournament.  They played well and finished third in the tournament.  We are so pround of our TCIS girls!

Sarah had a great season, made some key shots along the way and pulled down lots of rebounds.  She shared the season with her mom (Dina) as an assistant coach and with many great friends.  It was a wonderful season--one for the records books--so many fun memories.

A Visit with Becca

In the midst of attending a conference and doing some teacher recruitment in San Francisco, I (Ryan) was able to spend some time last week with Becca at NNU.  It was so fun to eat lunch with her in the cafeteria, meet many of her friends, see her play in the Chapel worship band (2 times), hear her sing in the Women's Choir and spend the day with her on her birthday. 

It was good to be able to spend some time on the NNU campus.  It is a place filled with many memories.  At the Wesley Center Conference that I attended on the campus I enjoyed connecting with some old friends and making a few new friends too.  I attend a couple of basketball games, laughed hard with Carey and Tim at the Mr. NNU competition and ate way too many gluten free no bake cookies at the Flying M.

My time in Nampa was great...but the real treat was seeing and spending time with Becca.

Hong Kong, APAC & Girls' Basketball

A couple of weeks ago Sarah and Dina boarded a plane bound for Hong Kong.  The Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC) Girls' Basketball tournament was held at Hong Kong International School this year.  Sarah went as a player and Dina went along as an Assistant Coach.

The weather was warm and the courts were active.  There were twelve teams in the tournament and the girls played a lot of basketball.  After three very full days of hoops the TCIS girls walked away from the tournament with an 8th place standing, lots of new friends and many wonderful memories.  Sarah played a great tournament and Dina coached a great tournament too!
