The weekend is about over and we are gearing up to jump into our second semester of the school year. It has been a great break. Any time that we are able to spend together as a family is precious and is a real treat. However, the last couple of days haven't been as great as they could have been because Dina has been gone. She flew out on Friday to go to a teaching conference in Jakarta, Indonesia. Yeah..... that is what I said-- Yipes.
Dina is doing well. We have been keeping in touch via email and she called me on her cell phone when she arrived in Jakarta. She says the weather is like Hawaii and her hotel room is bigger than our apartment here in South Korea. She is scheduled to fly back into South Korea on Tuesday morning. We can't wait...we miss her.
Changing subjects, let me tell you about "foke libs." In other posts I have mentioned our friends, Jaeyoung and his family and their Azuma Kimbap restaurant. They are precious people and we continue to enjoy a close and growing friendship with this family. Every once in awhile I will swing by Krispy Kreme donuts and pick up a box for Jaeyoung and his family. They don't get out of the restaurant very often so they are always very grateful for the box of donuts (in fact, they don't even know where Krispy Kreme is in Daejeon).
Well, this morning I got up early and took a walk to a nearby store called HomePlus. There is a McDonalds in HomePlus and I went there to get breakfast for Becca, Sarah and myself. While I was there I picked up a couple of Sausage, Egg McMuffin meals for Jaeyoung and his wife. (I am trying to expose them to some of the "healthy" Western food that we eat in America) They loved the McDonalds breakfasts.
In fact, they loved them so much that they called us this afternoon and invited us to come to the restaurant this evening for a special "foke lib" (pork rib) dinner. (I am not making fun of the way Jaeyoung talks, that is just the way that he and many other Koreans here pronounce the "p" and "r" sounds--It is cute.) The pork rib dinner was excellent to say the least. We ate and ate and Jaeyoung kept filling up the plate with pork ribs. It was a great time and a great meal.
Poor Dina--she missed out. (I hope she doesn't read this blog entry. Oh--she won't--she is too busy enjoying Hawaii like weather and lounging around her huge hotel room.)
Well, it sounds like you guys are getting along just fine with Dina away. I am quite jealous of her current locale! It is fun to hear about your friends Jaeyoung and his family, they seem like great friends.
