Yes, we are finally in Korea and I am finally getting a chance to blog about it. The days have been sooo full of meetings, moving in, dinners, meeting new people and JET LAG, that we haven't been able to update the blog. ( It also took me some time to set up our new computer in Korea).
Last Wednesday morning Randy and Chris pulled up to our house in Boise with their pickups and loaded us and all of our stuff up and took us to the airport.
We checked in 14 items of luggage and paid some extra $ for the excess luggage and then headed upstairs in the Boise airport for a nutritious breakfast at McDonalds.
We flew out of Boise at 10:14 a.m. and had a near perfect flight from Boise to Incheon, South Korea. (with one short lay over in San Francisco).
We arrived in Korea and so did all of our luggage. As we got off of the plane we were welcomed to our new home with a blast of 80 degree, 90% humidity heat--Whoa! I am sweating as I write this post (and loving it).
At the airport we were met by many of the TCIS administrative staff and they assisted all of the new staff families (40+ people) out of the airport and over to the buses that were to take us to Taejon. At the left is a picture of the truck that hauled all of our luggage. As it pulled up I started heading for the rear of the truck thinking that the back doors would open up and then suddenly the entire side of the truck opened up. So far that has been just the beginning of the many unexpected surprises of Korea.
After a 3 hour bus ride we arrived at Taejon and were escorted to our apartments for the evening. Our good friends, Heidi and George Zickefoose were waiting in Taejon for us, they met up with our luggage when it arrived and had it all delivered to our apartment and it was waiting for us when we walked into our apartment for the first time. What a blessing!
It was a good trip and we are here and everything made it in shipping. Even my guitar and Sarah's violin. We had them packed in this box. (Notice the box and the fragile sticker.)
Thank you all for your prayers. Our transition to S. Korea is going well. The girls are making fast friends and we are savoring the moments of this new experience. Stay tuned for more.
Much love, The Roberts.
Nice picture of the FRAGILE sticker on the busted box! Good to know that your instruments made it in one piece! Get some rest!
